On June 16, 2025, Miller Law secured a complete defense victory in a closely watched defamation trial in the Franklin County (Ohio) Court of Common Pleas. The lawsuit was brought by a physician who had previously been indicted on 25 counts of first-degree murder arising from allegations that he overprescribed fentanyl and other medications to critically ill ICU patients.

After more than five years of litigation and a two-week trial, Judge Stephen McIntosh granted a directed verdict in favor of Miller Law’s clients immediately following the plaintiff’s case-in-chief, ending the case before the defense was required to present its evidence.

The defense was led by E. Powell Miller and Kevin F. O’Shea, with Daniel Ravitz, Ann Miller, Angela L. Baldwin, Craig Dickinson, and David Goodrich serving as key members of the trial team. Miller Law successfully defended the case against a team of attorneys from four major law firms, including nationally recognized trial attorney Jose Baez.

The result reflects Miller Law’s extensive experience handling complex, high-stakes litigation and its commitment to achieving exceptional outcomes for its clients.

Videos from the trial, including the defense opening statement, expert witness examination, and cross-examination of the plaintiff, are available for those interested in learning more about the case.
