The Miller Law Firm is proud to recognize Executive Partner E. Powell Miller, who is featured in the Fall 2025 issue of Wayne Lawyer for his longstanding commitment to legal education and the future of Michigan’s legal profession.
The feature highlights Powell’s $1 million gift to Wayne State University Law School, as well as his challenge to fellow donors to match his contribution. The response was overwhelming, with donors contributing an additional $1.17 million in support of the law school.
A portion of Powell’s gift established the E. Powell Miller Program in Class Action Studies, creating new opportunities for students interested in complex litigation and class action practice. Beyond his financial support, Powell has also dedicated his time to educating the next generation of attorneys. During the winter 2025 semester, he co-taught Wayne Law’s first Class Actions and Multidistrict Litigation course alongside Miller Law Partner and Wayne Law alumnus Dennis A. Lienhardt, Jr.
Powell’s commitment to Wayne Law extends back many years. His previous philanthropic support helped establish the Wayne Law Wall of Fame, recognizing distinguished alumni and celebrating the school’s legacy of excellence.
Through his generosity, leadership, and dedication to legal education, Powell continues to invest in the future of the legal profession. He has long viewed Wayne Law as an essential institution for developing the attorneys who will shape Michigan’s legal community for generations to come.
