About Aya Chouaib
Aya Chouaib is an associate at The Miller Law Firm, where her practice focuses on class action litigation.
Ms. Chouaib earned her Juris Doctor from Wayne State University Law School, graduating cum laude in 2024. During law school, she honed her litigation, negotiation, and deal-making skills by competing in Mock Trial, the Jaffe Transactional Law Competition, and the National Football League Contract Negotiation Competition.
In addition to her academic achievements, Aya served as Senior Note Editor and Managing Editor of External Affairs for the Journal of Business Law. As Senior Note Editor, she provided feedback and guidance to contributing editors, refining their notes and comments through research and editing, while ensuring Bluebook citation compliance for journal articles prior to publication. In her role as Managing Editor, she orchestrated the Business Law Symposium, overseeing the smooth execution of the event and facilitating connections between alumni and current members.
Aya also demonstrated leadership as Chief Executive of the Wayne Law Diversity Coalition (WLDC), leading initiatives to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion within the legal community. She worked closely with multicultural groups to provide academic resources, organize networking events, and advocate for underrepresented law students. Aya also played a key role in mentorship, fostering a supportive environment for students from diverse backgrounds to thrive in their legal education and careers.
Aya gained extensive practical experience during law school, working across a variety of legal areas. As an In-House Extern at the Wayne County Corporation Counsel’s Office, she supported the representation of the county’s departments, elected officials, and employees by conducting legal research and drafting memoranda. As a 1L Summer Associate at the Michigan Immigrant Rights Center (MIRC), she assisted clients facing deportation, drafted legal pleadings, and worked on applications for immigration benefits. During her 2L Summer Associate position at Miller, Johnson, Snell & Cummiskey, Aya contributed to complex commercial litigation, intellectual property, and business law matters, while refining her skills in transactional law.
Aya graduated from Wayne State University with a Bachelor of Science in Honors Criminal Justice, completing an honors thesis on the relationship between crime and dyslexia. She was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa upon graduation, recognizing her ranking in the top 10% of her class. Membership in Phi Beta Kappa is one of the highest honors a student can receive, recognizing excellence in the liberal arts and sciences.
Beyond her academic success, Aya has been a committed advocate for criminal justice reform and community engagement. While an undergraduate, she interned at the Office of U.S. Representative Abdullah Hammoud, working on legislative initiatives aimed at reducing incarceration rates for marginalized communities. She also contributed to the State Appellate Defender Office’s efforts to assist juvenile lifers in obtaining parole.
Fluent in Arabic, Aya brings strong bilingual communication skills to her legal practice, allowing her to effectively serve a diverse client base.
