The Miller Law Firm is proud to announce that partner, Martha Olijnyk will be a moderator at the Oakland County Bar Associations professional development Zoom seminar titled “Other People’s Money: Financial Issues in Litigation,” being held on Thursday, February 25, 2021 from 4:30pm to 6:00pm. The seminar will touch on helping attorneys to understand basic financial and accounting issues involved in business disputes during litigation so that they are able to better to advise their client on the proper actions to take. The seminar will help its participants to be able to identify and understand financial documents that they may see in their practice. Topics of discussion will include:

  • Fundamentals of financial statements and supporting accounting records
  • Analyzing financial and accounting documents for key information
  • Common disputes relating to business valuation
  • Spotting issues for further analysis or assistance
  • Where to look for fraud or suspicious activity
  • Tips, traps, and tax implications of settlement agreements
